| US analysts ECP confirm USU's top position in IT Service Management and CMDB worldwide |
Möglingen, 22.01.2009 USU is strengthening its market position in the areas of IT Service Management and Configuration Management. With its Valuemation suite of software products, USU has become one of the world's leading IT service providers. The independent analysts from ECP, an American market research company, examined a total of 13 providers of software suites, among them three companies from Europe. ECP's latest report, "Tools Manager Annual Review 2009 - A Comprehensive Review of the Best IT Service Management and CMDB Tools," includes a comprehensive evaluation of Valuemation 3.5 with respect to its range of features, its functions as well as its product strategy and roadmap. This rating puts USU right at the top in international competition. According to a survey of IT managers and IT tool developers, companies of all sizes are currently focusing on the implementation of Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs). That's because a CMDB is becoming increasingly significant for ensuring reliable and economical IT operations. This key importance is making it a core function in IT Service Management. Basically, a CMDB transparently depicts the interrelationships among IT services, the processes that they support and the underlying infrastructure components. Furthermore, it shows links to users, contracts and all relevant processes occurring in daily operations such as those concerning incidents/problems and changes.
In particular, ECP took a close look at Valuemation's support of ITIL-compliant processes as well as its related functions and numerous features. The results of this detailed examination show that Valuemation, designed for use by medium-sized and large organizations, earned many points for its outstanding functional depth and features. The study praised its tight integration of OEM technology from BDNA, LanDesk (both for inventory/discovery function) and Tideway (automatic dependency mapping) along with the integration of USU knowledge management tools, a feature that addresses a central topic in ITIL v3: the Service Knowledge Management System (SKMS). In addition, high marks were also given to the visualization of workflows, the predefined and easily configurable dashboards - both new features of Version 3.5 - along with the availability of Valuemation Express, a lean application package intended for rapid deployment of IT Asset and IT Service Management. As a result of this study, USU Valuemation is now "CERTIFIED BY ECPweb.com 2009".
After intensive surveys and product demonstrations, it was at the end of 2007 that USU AG first qualified for ECP's evaluation of its CMDB and Configuration Management solutions. Then, in April 2008, USU made its first appearance in the categories IT Asset Management and Software Asset Management (ITAM/SAM). Following this, the enterprise license manager at USU customer FIDUCIA IT AG, Zulfikar Salehmohamed, was honored with the "2008 SAM Practitioner of the Year Award" for implementing USU license management at this company. Because ECP is a member of the well-respected, US-based "International Business Software Managers Association (IBSMA)," ECP publications are read by more than 12,000 IT professionals at mid-sized and large corporations worldwide, who consult the information in them when selecting new software.
Since 1988, USU has provided solutions for IT management and is now an international provider in Business Service Management with over 500 well-known customers, such as Poste Italiane, BMW, Deutsche Telekom, LANXESS, MAN, MTU, Swiss Re and ZDF, the second largest German public television channel. Valuemation is a comprehensive, modularly structured software suite featuring newly integrated technologies and functions covering all the disciplines required for ITIL-compliant Business Service Management in one powerful and convenient application.
